Donald served his country with the United States Army from 1958 till his honorable discharge in 1960. Then on March 24, 1962, Donald was united in marriage to Ella Fouts in Keokuk, Iowa, they were later divorced. He was a farmer all his life in Illinois.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Floyd Maxwell.
Donald is survived by: sons, Kim Maxwell of Montrose, Iowa and Jeff Maxwell and his wife, Heather of Keokuk, Iowa; daughters, Patty Hageman and her husband, Lawrence of Kahola, Missouri, Lori Pendgraft of Centerville, Iowa, Debbie Willingham and her husband, Tim of Portland, Texas and Glenna Maxwell of Albia, Iowa; brothers, Wayne Royalty of California, Gary Royalty of Peoria, Illinois and Randy Royalty of Ursa, Illinois; sister, Doris Stubblefield and Deloris Leptor both of Bluffton, Indiana; sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A family visitation will be held at the Cornerstone Church in Keokuk, Iowa on Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 4-6pm with the family present. His body has been donated to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
