Mr. Jennings served in the Army Infantry during World War II and was awarded the Silver Star for Gallantry in action as well as receiving a purple heart.
After serving his country, Mr. Jennings became the sports editor for the Clarksdale Press Register. He then moved with his family to Memphis where he became the entertainment editor for The Memphis Commercial Appeal for over 20 years, and worked for the paper for 30 years.
Mr. Jennings is survived by his wife, Betty A. Jennings, of Marietta; his daughter, Beth, and her husband, Jeff Kuhn, of Marietta; and nephew, Michael D. McQuay.
Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. with the Rev. Richard Rollins officiating.
