BROOKLET - Otha L. Akins, 79, died March 18 at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Bulloch County and was a retired farmer and cabinetmaker. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Bible Baptist Church of Statesboro for 30 years.
SURVIVORS: His wife, Evelyn Akins of Brooklet; five daughters, Becky Hodges of Savannah, Anne Bennett of Statesboro, Martha James, Hilda Hood and Betty Lenthicun, all of Texas; three sons, Mike Akins and Randy Gwinnett, both of Texas and Nicky Gwinnett of Brooklet; three sisters, Francis Anderson and Nita Lanier, both of Statesboro and Udell Williams of Denmark, a brother Rufus Akins of Denmark; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL: 3 p.m. today at Bible Baptist Church. Burial in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
