Sandra Kay Colton LeRoy, age 49, a joyful woman, returned to her Creator, March 5, 1990, after thumbing her nose at cancer.

Born to Elmo D. and Jewel Marx Colton June 7, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married Micheal A. LeRoy, June 27, 1957. Member St. Therese Parish, Secular Order of St. Francis, Catholic Women's League, Salt Lake Agape' Community, Strange Bedfellows Affinity Group and Peoples' Eucaristic League. Sandra was a lector and Eucaristic minister in her parish community, past president of Altar Society and St. Vincent volunteer. She was a former peace officer, was active in local politics, worked for world peace and an end to nuclear weapons. Lived with a zest and joy known to few. Enjoyed people, cooking, sailing, bowling, gambling and her cabin in the mountains.

Survived by her husband, Mike; daughter, Julie Kay LeRoy; sons, Dennis M. LeRoy and his wife, Jann; David A. LeRoy. Preceded in death by son, Patrick Donald, brother, Wayne Colton. Also survived by sisters, Linda Emms and Colleen LeRoy, as well as other loving family and friends.

Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 10, 1990, at 10 a.m. in St. Therese Catholic Church, 75 East Lennox St., Midvale. Franciscan wake service and vigil service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Therese Church. Friends are welcome to call at the church Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The family suggests contributions to Utah Peace Test, P.O. Box 11416,, Salt Lake City, Utah 84147 or The Cancer Society. Cremation will follow services according to Sandra's wishes. Goff Mortuary, directing.
