Shonnie A. Larson was born May 6, 1964, at Minot, North Dakota the daughter of Melvin and Linda (Steinwand) Larson. For a few years she lived in Minot with her family before they all moved to Donnybrook, North Dakota. It was here that she was raised and attended school. Shonnie graduated from the Donnybrook High School with the class of 1982. Shortly after her graduation she was married to Robbie Perlichek. They lived in Burlington, North Dakota, where she operated a day care in addition to raising her two sons. During that time, she received her Associates Degree in Medical Transcription while attending Minot State University. She also worked as a waitress for several years before becoming employed by United Airlines as a flight attendant for three years. After her divorce in 2000, Shonnie worked at several different jobs including being a manager at Market Place Foods and a book keeper at Home of Economy, both in Minot. She moved to Colorado after that where she was employed as the head cook at Centennial Hospital at Centennial, Colorado. While living in Colorado she was the head cook at the Sombrero Ranch for a few years. This was the largest ranch in Colorado and she would often travel to their different ranches to cook at different times of the year. While working as a cook, she attended Denver School of Massage Therapy and received her license in Massage Therapy. She was a Massage therapist for several years at Massage Envy in Thornton, Colorado. In 2011, Shonnie moved to Fargo, North Dakota, and was employed at Sanford Health as a cook. It was during this time she met her future husband, Duane Carlsrud. The two were married December 1, 2012, at the Ness Lutheran Church rural Gary, and have made their home on the farm near Gary since that time. Since her move to the Gary community she worked for Garberg Foods in Twin Valley and the Mahnomen Health Care in Mahnomen. On March 31, 2014, Shonnie opened the Gary Cafe which she continued to operate until the time of her death.

Shonnie will be remembered for her love of camping with her family and the outdoors, her love of cooking (especially potato dumplings and pies), whether for her friends, patients, countless customers or most importantly, her family. Other favorite pastimes included coin collecting, woodworking and gardening. Shonnie's real love was shown by the care she showed to her family, Duane, her sons and her daughters-in-law, her mother, siblings and her three grandchildren.

Shonnie was a long time member of the JC's of which she was selected as the family of the year and traveled to Nashville, Tennessee. She was currently a member of the Ness Lutheran Church, the Gary American Legion Auxiliary and the Lake Agassiz Two Cylinder Club, where she was the editor.
