Charles Eugene Wittenbraker II was born Oct. 24, 1924 in Laramie, Wyo., to Charles and Ethyl Morton Wittenbraker. He died May 7, 2006 at Hospice Family Care in Peoria, Ariz.
Chuck retired from Hill Air Force Base in Utah in 1986 and had lived in Congress, Ariz., since then. He was active in the LDS Church, the community, and the Kiwanis Club for many years.
He was an avid reader and puzzle solver; crosswords were his favorite relaxation. He enjoyed the computer. He used his skills as an electronics technician to help others many times.
Chuck was a quiet man with a sharp, wry sense of humor. He was loved and appreciated by his family and friends. His family was his greatest joy, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Frances Groce Wittenbraker; children Charles III (Julie) of Las Vegas, Nev., Eric and Richard of Utah, Cliff Barton (Tommie Jo) of Congress, Julie (Roger) Simon of Congress, Danielle Levenson of Phoenix, Delilah Tayloe of Mo., and Gene DuVall of N.M.; grandchildren Shanelle (Dan) Mayerhofer, Steven Uribe, Mischele (Jay) Nash, Michael (Carrie) Della-Ratta, Jared Quick, Scott Barton, Tobi Barton, Charles Wittenbraker IV, Angela Wittenbraker, Hilary Whittier, Pam, Aaron, Chad and Lana Wittenbraker, Zeke and Malachi Brooks, and Greg DuVall; great-grandchildren Felecia, Nomi, Kylee and Blake Mayerhofer, Jerico, Alexandra, and Tyler Nash, Dakota, Nancy and Simon Della-Ratta, Christian and Austin Barton, Taeya Quick, Bryce Suitor, Gideon Omoth and Ketria Hausner.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ethyl, sister Marie Ward, son Alan, granddaughter Amy, and great-grandson Michael III.
