He was born June 9, 1921 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of George and Lola(Blanset)Ball. Caleb attended school in Moulton, Iowa. He married Mary E. Boyer on April 1, 1945 in Centerville. Caleb gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He accepted the call from his Lord and Savior to the ministry. Caleb attended Hannibal La Grange College of Ministry in Hannibal, Missouri. He pastored churches in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. After retiring from ministry, he was the sexton for the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. He later worked in maintenance for Centerville Housing, retiring in 1990 as the manintenance manager.
After retiring from ministry, Caleb continued to spread the gospel everywhere he went. He spent many hours visiting with the residents at the nursing homes and patients at the hospital. Caleb volunteered his services to transport people to doctor appointments and did many odd jobs for friends in their homes. Caleb and Mary attended Grace Tabernacle Church in Centerville after his retirement from the ministry.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ball of Centerville, Iowa; nephew Janes(Fiona)Ball and their sons Brian and Larry Ball of Pensacola, Florida; and a niece, Marsha Slutes.
Caleb was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Frank and Charles Ball; and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastors Steve Houser and Brian Hargrave officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 12-1 pm. Burial will follow the service in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Memorials have been established to the family.
