Charles Bandy

The funeral for Charles Bandy has been set for Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Jackie Thompkins officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with military rites at the cemetery.

Bandy, a resident of 1011 Bank Street, was born Sept. 19, 1921 in Centerville, the son of Clarence and Daisy D. Pullen Bandy. He married Levinia Johnson in Centerville on April 26, 1976 and she survives.

Bandy was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a combact infantryman. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with six bronze campaign stars, a combat infantryman’s badge and the Purple Heart as a result of being wounded in battle.

Besides his wife, Levinia, he is survived by four step-children, Adena Lewis of Centerville, Starla Lewis of Clarksburg, West Virginia, William Lewis of Fairmont, West Virginia and Edward Lewis, Jr. of Alexandria, Virginia; several step-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence Bandy of Texas and Max Bandy of East Moline, Ill.; and two sisters, Mary Richards of Silvis, Ill. and Nadine Bandy of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
