BOGATA — Charles "Wache" H. Cole, 79, passed into heaven Feb. 28, 2010, after a long, courageous battle with congestive heart failure.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at the Bogata First Assembly of God with Rev. Glenn Little officiating. Burial is to be at Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Homes.

The family is to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

"Wache" was born Jan, 16, 1930, in Lamar County, the son of Charles Henry and Lilly Maudie Gable Cole. He married the love of his life, Geneva Cawley on Aug. 29, 1952, in Texarkana, Ark. They moved to Houston in the mid 1950s and he started his career as a brick mason, which continued for the next 38 years until his retirement in 1992.

He was an avid supporter of the FFA and loved watching his son and grandchildren show cattle, sheep and goats through the years. He also got great enjoyment watching his grandchildren play sports. He loved good horses and good cattle. But above all of this, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband, daddy, granddaddy, son and brother.

He is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Lloyd and Eula Cawley; his brother and wife, Johnny and Betty Cole; and sister-in-law, Nita Townes Redding.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva (or Punkin' as he called her); son, Monte Cole and wife, Amy; daughter, Darlene Field-Smith and husband, Buddy; grandchildren, Becky and Tyler Cole, Bridget Field Hosford and husband, Nick, Cole Field, Ashley, Tiffany, Shelby and Marnie Smith; great-grandchildren, Landon and Carter Hosford; sisters, Lou Nell Thompson of Magnolia, Nita Johnson and husband, Jim, of Conroe; brother, W.C. Cole and wife, Carrie, of Dimple; brothers-in-law, Ralph Cawley and wife, Bobbie, and Billy Cawley and wife, Randi, all of Bogata; ex son-in-law, Luke Field of Tomball; along with many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Pallbearers are to be Carlton Cole, David Townes Jr., Michael Overmann, Tyler Cole, Cole Field and Luke Field Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Cox, Nick Hosford and Wayland Johnson.
