LTJG Travis Alvis Sipe

Ensign T. A. Sipe, USNR, was designated Naval Aviator #9481 in 1941. He entered active service via the pre-war Aviation Cadet (AVCAD) program after attending but not graduating from, Arizona State Teacher's College (Now Arizona State University) in Tempe, AZ.

Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Sipe died when his patrol plane crashed into San Francisco Bay, Calif. He was one of four crewmembers to perish.

Travis was born in Drytown, AR, the son of Lawrence Garfield and Edna Mae (Moser) Sipe.

The American Legion Post in Scottsdale, AZ is named after TSGT Clayton Peterson and LTJG Travis Sipe.
