Deceased Name: Floyd Jenks
Floyd E. Jenks, 73, Topeka, died Monday, May 20, 2002, in Topeka.

Mr. Jenks was a machinist for the Santa Fe Railway in Topeka until he retired in 1991. He served as general chairman of District No. 19 of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace workers. He served as a seaman second class in the Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II from January 1946 to November 1947.

He was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Carbondale, the son of Lester M. and Erma I. Redenbaugh Jenks. He attended high school at Highland Park in Topeka and at Carbondale. He lived in Missouri from 1953 to 1968.

Mr. Jenks was a member of Local No. 378 of the Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union of Topeka, Lake Perry Country Club, the American Bowling Association, Gage North Seniors Bowling League and the Topeka Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 555.

He married Helen B. Boyce on Jan. 6, 1949, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include four sons, Mike Jenks and Chuck Jenks, both of Topeka, Gary Jenks, Mexico, Mo., and Eddie Jenks, Silver Lake; three daughters, Joyce Lowry, Mexico, Mo., Theresa Henderson, Eudora, and Sheila Tucker, Manhattan; two brothers, Bill Jenks, in Missouri, and Dan Jenks, Topeka; six sisters, Betty Clifton, Hazel Malone, Lois Holmes and Sue Jenks, all of Topeka, Helen Gehrke, Yucaipa, Calif., and Judy Murphy, in Florida; 24 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Mr. Jenks was preceded in death by an infant son, Steven Jenks.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted by an Army funeral detail. Cremation will follow the services. Mr. Jenks will lie in state at the funeral home after noon Thursday where visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stormont-Vail Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.
