Famed Circus Clown. Born in Cubelles/Barcelona, Spain, as Josep Andreau i Lasarre. But the world should know him as "Charlie Rivel." At the age of 2, he appeared for the first time, in his family´s act, as his parents were street performers. Growing up, he was to develop an own, personal act, and was to become Europe´s most famed and popular clown, as well as one of the world´s most renowned. He had a unique, personal style. His costume trademark was a red jersey, accidently stretched in the laundry, and when his clown-figure came in distress, he cried his famous: "uuuuuuuhhh". He wrote an autobiography entitled "Poor Clown."
