Ignatius served as a Radio Officer, S.S. Cacalilao, Merchant Marines during World War II.

His next of kin, and probably Ignatius, resided in Buffalo, Erie County, New York prior to the war.

Ignatius was "Killed In Action" when the S.S. Cacalilao suffered an internal explosion on the area of the bridge for unknown reasons during the war in the Gulf Of Mexico.

He was awarded the Mariner's Medal.
