Steven Avery Deskins, 53, of Ruckersville, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2010, suddenly at his home.

He was born on February 5, 1957, a son of Virginia S. Deskins and the late Avery C. Deskins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Sharon Deskins.

Steve was a lifelong handy man. He enjoyed working with his hands. He was employed (in which he said was not a real job because he loved working as a letter carrier) by the Charlottesville United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. NRLCA.

Steve is survived by his mother, Virginia S. Deskins; his stepchildren, Jennifer Moore and Jason Moore; his brothers, Vandy, his wife Connie, Andy his wife JoAnn, Michael, and Mark and his wife, Marla Deskins; his sisters, Donna Mann, Patsy and her husband, Dieter Billick, and Deborah and her husband, Donald Bailey; a special friend, Dorothy Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A memorial service was held Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Warrenton Assembly of God, 276 Cleveland Street, Warrenton.

The family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
