Violet S. Jensen, our loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, returned to Heavenly Father on November 6, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was 87 years old. Violet was born May 12, 1922 in Paris Idaho to Calvin Buck and Grace Ellen Smedley. She was the eldest of 7 children.

After she graduated from high school, she went to college at the LDS Business College in Logan, Utah. She then worked at Hillfield Army Air Station in Ogden, Utah, where she met her husband, Claude Jensen who was a MP guarding prisoners at the time during World War II. Both of them were transferred to Detroit Michigan and were later married. Violet was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various positions throughout her life including working in the Library, and her latest, most enjoyable position was extraction which she did for 17 years up to the time when her medical challenges would not allow her to anymore. She was also active the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers.

Her most important job was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she cherished those times. Violet was an excellent cook and was always one of the first people to volunteer to bake something for school or church functions. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, doing seek a word puzzles and various types of handwork and sewing. She made sure each one of her grandkids had a quilted blanket from her when they were little. She will always be remembered for her kindness, willingness to help other, and her selfness, she always put the needs of others before herself.
