Russian Orthodox services for Wallace Ronald "Wally" Jacobs will be at Wiggen's & Son Funeral Home in Ballard, Wash.
A graveside service will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery and a celebration of the end of his pain at Salmon Bay Eagles immediately thereafter.
Wally died March 6, 2013, at Highline Hospital in Burien, Wash., after a brave fight with lung cancer, at age 61.
He was born Jan. 7, 1952, in Sitka, the son of Mark and Annie (Paul) Jacobs Sr. He was Dakhl'aweidí from the Killerwhale House in Angoon. His Tlingit name was Daanaawú after his grand-uncle Archie Bell and his uncle Wally Dick; the Haida Killerwhale clan gave him the name Kúugáayaang.
Wally was a member of the Russian Orthodox church, and his church name was Kyril.
After Sitka High, Wally served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam era veteran.
He was a longtime fisherman, first on the family seiner the Rondout, and for many years on the Icy Queen. He also worked as crewman on a tug for many years.
He had lived in Seattle since 1983, and most recently worked for the TSA as a screener at Sea-Tac Airport.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mark Jacobs Sr. and Annie (Paul) Jacobs; brothers Harvey Jacobs Sr., Mark Jacobs Jr., Hamilton Jacobs, Ernie Jacobs and Franklin Jacobs; and their sister Rosie.
He is survived by his partner, Faith Jenness of Seattle; son Chris Azizeh, and sister Bertha Karras of Sitka; grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
