Benjamin Joseph Goucher, 40, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away quietly at the Battle Creek Health System on Saturday, August 29, 2009. He was born September 19, 1968 in Lansing, MI the son of George Thomas Goucher and Cheryl Dian (Mitchell) Goucher.

Ben was a self employed man working on construction projects, was formerly a chef Gondolas in Crossville, TN. He served as a Private first class in the U S Army during peacetime from 1986 until his discharge in 1988.

Ben is survived by his parents George T. and Cheryl D. Goucher of Cathlamet, WA; his fiancé: Sharon L. Goodale of Battle Creek; five daughters; Carol Goucher and Robin Leahann Goucher both of Rockwood, TN; Christina Goodale of Battle Creek, MI; Rebecca A. & Bill Mathis of Bedford, MI; and Constance J. Case of Battle Creek; 15 grandchildren: Samatha, Tyler, Kayla, and Storm Goodale; Ridge Case, Tever Hoffman, Jeremy & Shannon Goodale, Joshua, Justin, Matthew, Mitchell, Chelsie Goodale, Christopher Mathis. Bailee Mathis, Ryan Mathis; five great-grandchildren: Nevaeh Goodale, Zachary Goodale, Emily Goodale, Hayden Goodale and Jordan Hoffman; four brothers: John J. & Lita Goucher of Hillsboro, OR. Jeff Bammer, Gary Rose, and Charles Street all of Battle Creek, MI; two sisters: Mary E. Goucher of Beaverton, OR; Jennifer R. Goucher of Longview, WA. While in Battle Creek, Benjamin considered Bill & Carol Bammer as his very special parents. Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents: Linn D. & Jacqueline Goucher and John Thomas & Goldie Maxine Mitchell.

Ben graduated through the U S Army with a GED and attended Pennfield Public Schools. He came with his family to Battle Creek as a child, lived in Tennessee 1990-1997 then returned to Battle Creek. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with all his grandchildren, Vegetable gardening, he especially liked hunting with his grandson Tyler, enjoyed hanging out with the grandchildren and friends at cookouts and bonfires.

Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service after 2 p.m. Wednesday, where the family will be present from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m.. Funeral services will be held in the Bachman Funeral Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael F. McGlynn officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
