Richard Higgins, 86

Church Hill- Richard H. Higgins, 86, slipped gently and peacefully into sleep at his home Monday, May 30, 2005 after a brief illness.
He served in the Army in World War II and retired from the Mead Corp. in 1981.

He is preceded in death by his wife Grace Byington Higgins. son Charles Higgins, twin sons, Ronald and Donald Higgins , twin daughters, Sandra and Brenda Higgins, Parents, Wiley and Ira Higgins, brothers, Glenn, Arthur. Vestal , Vence and Frank Higgins. Sisters, Eva, Zora, Opal, Duffie and Marie.

He is survived by two sons, James Fred Higgins and wife Ruth Higgins of Church Hill. and Richard Wayne Higgins of Mt. Carmel. Two daughters, Thelma Bowlin and husband Ron Bowlin of Mount Carmel, and Bernice Sauls and Husband Jimmy Sauls of Afton. Three sisters, Myrtle Huckaby, Ethel Greer and husband Garnie of Church Hill, and Sue Howell of Parrish, Florida. Daughter-in-law, Carla Higgins of Kingsport. Grandchildren, Lynn, David, Carol, Michael, Mikki, Kelly, Curtis, Angie, Kim, Jerry, Rebecca, and Ricky. 18 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel and anytime at the residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Skelton officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday at the Bethel Church Cemetery.
