Second Lieutenant Benjamin was the pilot of
B-24D Liberator #41-11769, serving with the
339th Combat Crew Training Squadron from
Biggs Army Airfield, El Paso, Texas, during
World War II.

He was one of five airmen killed when the
bomber struck Guadalupe Peak, in Culberson
County, Texas, during a snowstorm while on a
training flight, December 31, 1943.

The wreck was not located until May of1944.
All aboard had perished.

The other crew members aboard were:

2nd Lt. Gordon L Pickering
S/Sgt. Ewel D Corley
Sgt. Lawrence R Rabbitt
