Clyde H. Williams, Sr., former Deputy Sheriff of Taylor County and a member of Campbellsville Police Force for many years, died at Rosary Hospital on February 7th at 12:15 p.m. after becoming ill about midnight on Friday, February 6th. Mr. Williams was born Jan. 21, 1892 in Cumberland County, Ky., the son of Finis H. and Novella Murphy Williams. He united in marriage with Lula B. Williams of Cumberland County who preceded him in death in 1949. Several years later he married Miss Olga Jeffries, who survives him. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and Pitman Lodge 124 Masonic Order. Other survivors are his wife, Mrs. Olga Jeffries Williams; children, Roy Williams, Mrs. Nelly King, Mrs. Manvil Moss, Mrs. J. T. Moss and Clyde Williams, Jr., all of Campbellsville, and George Williams, Detroit, Mich.; brothers, C. M. Williams, Route 3, Campbellsville, C. B. Williams, Albany, Ky., Ed Williams, Bakertown, Ky., Rev. T. B. Williams, Louisville, Ky., and one sister, Mrs. T. C. Morrison, Smithland, Ky. Other survivors are eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted at the Lyon Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 9th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kavanaugh Loy and Dr. Chester Badgett in charge of the service. Pallbearers were: George Crabtree, Earl Gwinn, Logan Malone, Fred Faulkner, Jr., Dick Reese and Marshall McGlocklin. Honorary pallbearers were members of the City Police Force: Hershal Moore, Elbert Tarter, Kenneth Durham, James Walters, Lewis Sallee, and N.C. Davis and Sheriffs Dick Miller, Sam Harden. Other honorary bearers were Lee Campbell, Lawrence Winfrey, T. S. Curry, Sr., and O'Neil Kidd. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery.
