Obituary: Emory L. Arney. A private service will be held for Emory L. Arney, who died Sept. 26, 1998, at age 74. Mr. Arney was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Grass Creek , Wyo. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and was an advertising salesman before his retirement in 1997. He lived in Hawthorne, N.Y., before moving to Portland in April. His wife, Kathleen, died in 1995.

Survivors include his sisters, Elsie Waddell of Portland, Mary Lou Brying of Mapleton and May Klein of Salt Lake City, Utah.; and brother, Glen of Newberg. Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are by Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes.
