GREENSBORO, NC — Mrs. Constance "Connie" Gates Brotherton, 89, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at her residence.
No services were planned at this time.
Mrs. Brotherton was born in South Bend, Indiana and moved frequently before graduating from Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts.
She taught kindergarten and first grade for 12 and a half years before retiring to raise her family.
She lived in Livingston and Short Hills, NJ, before moving to Greensboro in 1976.
Left behind, her husband of 62 years, Charles Brotherton (now deceased as of March 9, 2009) of Greensboro; daughters, Susan J. Brotherton of Rahway, NJ, Nancy Brotherton of Asheville; sister, Barbara Jost of West Point Island, NJ; brother, Griffith Gates (Jane) of Manhattan, KS; sister-in-law, Mary Brotherton of Colts Neck, NJ; eight nieces and nephews and their families; and her faithful Golden Retriever, Buffy.
