Patricia Collins Svendsen

Patricia (Pat) Collilns Svendsen passed away on December 31, 2013. Pat was born April 19, 1919 in Seattle, WA. Pat grew up in Seattle's University District and during her teenage years, helped her parents run a boarding house for UW students. Pat was in Seattle's Lincoln High class of 1937. After graduating from the University of Washington (and meeting her husband Alwin Svendsen), Pat taught school in Rainer and Lacey, Washington. Pat and her family moved to Martha Lake in 1949, where she and Al built a home on the site of her grandfather's cabin. Pat and the family were active in 4-H and Pegasus Patrol in Alderwood Manor in the 1860's. After retiring, Pat and Al traveled to the Panama Canal, Europe, Australia and China. In her later years, Pat enjoyed bird watching and time with her great-grandchildren.

Over thirty years at the Edmonds School District, Pat was variously a teacher and counselor at the old Edmonds High School, Lynnwood Junior High and Woodway High School. Pat was a long-time member of Lincoln High's Lynx Club, the Sno-King School Retirees, and the Association of University Women.

Pat was preceded in death by Al, her husband of 60 years. Pat is survivied by her children. Glen Svendsen and Kristine McBride, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family greatly appreciates the care Pat received at Anderson House, SHoreline, WA, and from Evergreen Hospice Care. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the scholarship funds of the Sno-King School Retirees and The Edmonds School District #15 Alumni Association.
