Geraldine Doyeto Davis
HOBART - Funeral for Geraldine Doyeto Davis, 85, Hobart, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Washington Street Baptist Church, Hobart, with the Rev. Stan Looper, pastor, and Frank Kauahquo, pastor, Cornerchief Baptist Church, Geary, officiating.
Wake service will be at 7 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. Davis died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009.
Burial will be in Elk Creek Tribal Indian Cemetery, Hobart, under direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart.
She was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Hobart, to the Rev. Herbert J. and Laura Geikaumah Doyeto. She attended elementary and high school at Haskell Boarding School. After graduation, she worked as a cosmologist, then worked many years at Western Electric in Oklahoma City. In 1976, she moved to Hobart, where she and her husband, Madison Davis, were involved in First American Baptist Church. They were also supporters of Oklahoma Indian American Baptist Association. Then they moved their membership to Washington Street Baptist Church. She was always involved in her church choir and Sunday School, until her health failed.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Willie and Irene Doyeto, Lawton; a nephew, Wes Doyeto, Lawton; two nieces: Jacqui Doyeto, Lawton; and Mary Moses, Hobart; many other nephews and nieces; three grandsons: Lane Scotty, Lawton; and Jordan Doyeto, and Jeremy Doyeto, both of Altus; many other grandchildren; a special cousin, Bonnie Redbird; and many other cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Carla Jo Longhorn; her parents; a brother, Vernon Doyeto; and sisters: Glady Doyeto and Colleen Bruner.
