Glenn H. "Bud" Follmer, Jr., 74, of Limestone Road, Milton, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 after being stricken at home.
Born September 20, 1934 in Limestoneville, he was the son of the late Glenn H. "Jim", Sr. and A. Elmira (Funk) Follmer. On February 14, 1953 he married the former Margaret E. Brown and they just celebrated 56 years of marriage this month.
Glenn was a 1952 graduate of Danville High School. A truck driver for 38 years, he retired from New Penn Motor Freight. He was currently employed part-time with Limestone Township and was a driver at Fairfield Motors, Lewisburg.
He was a member of AARP and the Central PA Teamsters Local 764, Milton.
He is a 50-year member of the Watsontown Alliance Church where he was active in many activities, most notably serving as an exemplary elder, a past-treasurer and a Sunday School teacher. In his retirement years he loved puzzles and could quite often be found "tinkering" around in his garage or maintaining his home and yard.
Surviving besides his wife are six children: Michael D. Follmer and his wife Debra; Mark A. Follmer and his wife Susan, all of Milton; Marvin W. Follmer and his wife LeeAnn, Watsontown; Marcy A. Bogart and her husband Dusty of Stewart, TN; Melinda K. Marr and her husband James, and Martin L. Follmer, all of Danville; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Loretta Follmer who died in 1937.
Friends are invited to call at Watsontown Alliance Church, 1165 Eighth Street Drive, Watsontown from 6 to 9 PM Monday. The funeral will be held at the church at 11:00 AM Tuesday with burial following in Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery, Hagenbuch Loop Road, Danville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to Watsontown Alliance Church, 1165 Eighth Street Drive,Watsontown, PA 17777.
