Doris Malinda Alexander of Cottonwood died February 27.

She was born August 13, 1914 in Hanston, Kansas, the daughter of William Henry Halling and Lucy Catherine (Hamilton) Halling.

She was a graduate of Jetmore High School in Jetmore, Kansas. Doris ran a telephone office in Hanston, Kansas. She was the bookkeeper for the family business, "Alex Machine Shop".

A lifelong faithful Baptist, she was a member of the Verde Baptist Church in Cottonwood. She was an active state officer in her youth church organization in Kansas.

Doris enjoyed gardening, specializing in tulips and spring flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Frank Alexander, a daughter, Anita Marie Alexander Jones; granddaughter Debbie Lea Adams and a great-grandson Mark Alan Rehling

Surviving are sons, Lloyd Alan (Earlene)Alexander of Phoenix and Gerald Francis (Alice) Alexander of Phoenix; a daughter Lila Lee Alexander (Chip) Bratager of Caputa, South Dakota; sisters, Ava Catherine Halling Ballew of Hillsboro, Kansas and Bonnie Lucille Halling (Jack) Brown of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren, forty one great-grandchildren and twenty-eight great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery.
