Thomas James Jim" Carroll, 79, born in Hespeler, Ontario, left to join his Lord, April 10, 2009 in Prescott, Arizona.

Born in Canada, May 17, 1929, he sang in church as a child. In his teen years he was a member of the Scout House Marching Band playing the snare drum. They won many trophies in Canada and the USA.

In 1958 Jim came to Prescott seeking a drier, healthier climate for his wife, Barbara. Eventually Jim was hired by Arizona Public Service Company to work on construction. Working 32 years, retirement was offered in 1990.

Jim liked to kick up his heels with the Square Dance Group and sang calls for the dancers. Eventually he became President of the club.

Jim enjoyed singing four part harmony. He found three men who were willing to form a quartet. One day a barbershopper came to Prescott, found Jim and formed "The Prescottones Chorus". Years later they were 52 men strong. Out of the chorus came the "Chord Rustlers Quartet". They entertained with great harmony and crazy routines, creating fun and laughter wherever they performed.

Retirement gave Jim time to share a joke with everyone, feeling it was his mission to share joy and laughter.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Thomas and mother, Sarah. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara; sons, David (Jody), Dale (Candy) and Peter; grandchildren, Thomas, Rachael, Daniel, Nicole, Danielle, Steven, and Teryn; brother, Frank (Mary) of Guelph, Ontario, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
