John Pierce
“He who in loyalty has given all, has given in a
glorious cause. We must not grieve, whose worth our
Heavenly Father knows, and crowns immortal”

John Pierce gave his life for humanity on Miller’s Hill September 28, 1918. He was a good soldier and even under severe shell and machine gun fire he handled his men in a skillful and tender manner. They all admired him for his cool, clear-cut manner of acting, and they loved him for his thoughtful treatment. No greater honor can come to his loved ones at home than to know that he was a true gentleman and a true soldier, ringing with the true metal of genuine loyalty to the end.
