From West Side Cats in Ohio:
David crossed over the Rainbow Bridge today. His time with us was short, but we're very glad to have had the opportunity to spend these last few weeks with him. He was safe, warm and happy for his final time on this earth, which is all any of us can hope for. He will always have a very special place in our minds and hearts. We all love you, David.
Special Needs: Senior cat missing multiple teeth, right eye blind, left eye severe cataract, weight loss, urination issues due to previous bladder infection.
Gender: Male, neutered
Color: Brown/white Maine Coon longhair
David lived with his former owner for 11 years and was cared for well at first. When the vet began recommending additional services such as dental cleanings as David grew older though, his owner simply stopped taking him to the vet. When Davi's health began to noticibly decline, he was put in the basement so his owner wouldn't have to watch his downward spiral.
When we first brought him ot the shelter, he was checked out by the vet. His bloodwork came back surprisingly good. He was in decent health other than a severe dental infection and bladder infection. His owner had known there was a problem with his bladder because David began urinating around the house but had refused testing to find out the problem, so David suffered in the basement for a year with an infection. Even now that the infection is completely cleared up, he struggles with controlling his bladder because his condition was left untreated for too long.
