Susan Jackson Wallace, 57, of St. Pauls, passed away on Sept. 28, 2011, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Susan graduated from St. Pauls High School in 1972 and from East Carolina University in 1976. She taught school in the Cumberland County School System for 30 years, St. Pauls Elementary School for two years and in Dillon, S.C., school system for a year. She had been employed by Christine's Christian Day Care (More for Four Program) for two years.

She was a member of Bladen Union Baptist Church for many years, being very active in the church, and participated as a board member of Carolina Civic Center in Lumberton.

She was a wonderful mother, wife and friend, enjoying family time, trips to the beach and mountains, gardening and reading. She was also a mentor to many children during her teaching years.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Wallace; son, Chadwick Jackson Lewis; stepdaughter, Christy Rose Wallace; a sister, Gail Jackson McClanahan; a nephew, Joseph Avery McClanahan; and her beloved pet, Oliver.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bladen Union Baptist Church, the Rev. Danny McLamb and Dr. Jerry M. Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Pauls Public Library, 221 W. Broad St., St. Pauls, or the St. Pauls Elementary School, 222 Martin Luther King Drive, St. Pauls.
