Ray Tabata was my father. He was born in California. At a young age he and his family were sent to an Arizona Japanese relocation camp. Upon his release he met my mother (Dovey Bray) and they married shortly thereafter. He came back to Indiana with her where he stayed the rest of his life. He passed away in Columbus, Indiana. Ray was the oldest son of a Japanese mother (Mime) and Japanese father(Frank). He had two brothers Jim and Flyer and two sisters Eva and Anne. He was survived by one son Troy Tabata, daughter Sharon Pottorff and a step-daughter Melanie. He had one grandchild James (Chip) Pottorff. Ray loved poker and car racing. Dad was a wonderful cook and everyone wanted his secret recipe for barbecue beef ribs.
