CM Sgt. Peter Kost
U.S. Air Force Retired
Peter was born on Sept. 13, 1936 in Auburn, and passed away in Lakewood, Wash. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004. He grew up and attended high school in Auburn, and enlisted in the Air Force in February 1954. He lived a life and a half enjoying his family, relatives, friends, hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and other activities.
He served in the Air Force in both an active and reserve capacity role for over 42 years. Peter served in various Air Force Command Units at different bases throughout the U.S., as well as foreign assignments.
He has lived in the Tacoma, Wash. area for the past 36 years.
His most recent assignment with the Air Force was that of a flight engineer instructor at McChord AFB in Tacoma while supervising flight engineers in his Civil Service Reserve Unit.
Peter is survived by his daughter, Lena Battraw and son Peter Kost Jr., together with four grandchildren Spencer and Angelena Battraw, and Amarantha and Sascha Kost.
In addition, he leaves behind two brothers, John Kosct of Auburn and Paul Kosct of Lakewood, Wash., as well as three sisters in the Auburn area, Anne Banwell, Betty Hryvko and Millie Smart.
In addition, there are several nieces and nephews who called him "Uncle Pete#8 and they reside in various places in the U.S.
Viewing will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at Mt. View Funeral Home in Lakewood, Wash. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, in the Mt. View Celebration of Life Center. The burial service will occur at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Maple Valley, Wash.
