Death: Apr. 14, 1958

Inventor. Born Lester Farnsworth Wire, he was a detective for the Salt Lake City police force when he went to the Utah Department of Transportation about ideas for city traffic control in the early 1900s. In 1912, he was credited for inventing the first functional electric traffic light which used red and green lights. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
