ZANESVILLE: James Milo West was welcomed into eternal rest by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 15, 2013 at the Morrison House surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born on May 6, 1940 in Zanesville, but always considered November 17, 1973 his real "birth" day. For that day he and his wife accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and became children of God.

He attended Maranatha Bible Church for 38 years where he served as an usher, Bible collating team leader, and a willing able worker serving his Lord with various church projects throughout the years. He recently became a member of Washington Township Baptist Church. He was a quiet gentle giant of faith, but anyone talking to him for very long knew of his love for his Savior. He spent nearly 40 years knowing and anticipating that one day he would pass from this life into his eternal home. His testimony was instrumental in all three of his children and all eight of his grand children accepting Christ also. Only eternity will tell of his influence on others. His desire to magnify his Lord can be summed up in these words: "According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death." Philippians 1:20.

As a young man he served his country in the United States Army Military Police - #342MP. He founded J.M. West Construction in 1966 and Cardinal Petroleum in 1997.

He was preceded in death by his parents Milo D. and Martha Gertrude (Peck) West and two brothers, Richard "Dick" and Gerald West.

He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 47 years, Sarah of the home; children Amy (Kurt) Collins of Zanesville, James Andrew "Andy" (Marla) West of Chandlersville, and Adam T. (Karen) West of Zanesville; Grandchildren Tyler and Brittany Collins, Jessica, Clay, Leah, Titus, Stephen and Luke West; sisters Lucille (John) McKendry of Norwich and Judy (Dal) Wycoff of Cambridge; one brother William "Bill" (Bobbie) West Melbourne, Florida. - See more at: http://m.legacy.com/obituaries/zanesvilletimesrecorder/obituary.aspx?n=&pid=162410634&referrer=0&preview=True#sthash.tO9UfHGN.dpuf
