Joseph M. Braun, aged 87, was found dead last Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock in his home at the corner of High and Frederick streets. Mr. Braun lived alone and it had been the custom for some memberof his family to look after him each day, However, Cyril Brown, a son,was out of town Wednesday and upon his investigation Thursday evening he discovered that his father's home was unlighted. He summoned Frank Zender,
Harry Iden and Kenneth Myers. Mr. Iden and Mr. Myers entered the home and found Mr. Braun's body lying in front of a atove where he had attempted to build a fire. Dr. J. A. Probst of Upper Sandusky, Wyandot county coroner,
was called and pronounced death due to a heart attack. Mr. Braun is believed to have died late Wednesday afternoon.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock from Our Lady of
Consolation Church. The Rev. Elmer Mulcahy, O.F.M. Conv., officiated.
Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, north of Carey.
Pallbearers were: Thomas Braun and James Braun of Toledo, Ralph Zender, Kenneth Myers, Kenneth Kitzler and Gilbert Zender.
The Goff funeral home was in charge.

Mr. Braun was born in Upper Sandusky November 17, 1858, the son of Mathias and Catherine·(Myer) Baumgardner Braun. His age at death was 87 years,1 month and 29 days.

On September 21, 1880, he was married to Louisa Pahl who died November 30,1919. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Emma Hook of Adrian,Mich.; William Braun and Mrs. Agnes Burkhardt of Toledo, Mrs. Mamie Rise of
Akron, Mrs. Margaret Orians of Dayton and Mrs. Frank Zender, Mrs. Harry Iden and Cyril Brown of Carey. A son Grover, a twin brother of Mrs. Burhhardt,died at the age of three, and another son Hubert Braun was killed November 3,1944, in an automobile accident at Ithica, Mich.
There are 29 grandchildren and I6 great-grandchildren.
A brother and two sisters: John of Columbus and Mrs. Mollie Vogel and Miss Katie Braun of Cleveland preceded him in death, as did also a half-brother Martin who died in Missouri and a half-sister Mrs. Elizabeth Brunner of
Findlay.

Mr. Braun was a member of Our Lady of Consolatoin Church. He came to Carey
about 60 years ago and was employed as a section foreman on the A., C. & Y.railroad for 34 years, retiring 10 years ago.
