Ernestine Hawkins Hammond, age 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 1, 2014.
Born in Anderson, SC, on December 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee Hawkins and the late Mary Ellen Buchanan Hawkins. She worked at Haynesworth Mill for over 30 years and later retired from Bosch. She was a life-long member of Orrville Baptist Church where she was a previous Sunday School administrator, choir member and participated in the vacation bible school.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lee L. Hammond; a son, JR Hart and his wife Wanda; daughters, Trish Nelson and her husband Don, and Darlene Hart; a step-son, Tom Hammond; step-daughters, Melinda Hanks and her husband David and Lorri Hammond; a brother, Ronnie Hawkins and his wife, LaDonna; sisters, Linda Gambrell, Jeanette Jones and her husband Bob, Mary Ann Allen and her husband Jimmy and Sandra Bryan and her husband Ronald; nine grandchildren, Brandon, John, Jessica, Ashley, Jonathan, Leah, Caroline, Christa, and Jessie; and six great-grandchildren, Iris, Hagen, Ashton, Sadie, Judson and Grayson.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Orrville Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Wendell Bannister and Reverend Travis Bryan officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
