Born May 13, 1914, in Peoria to Phillip and Henrietta Stein, she married Charles E. Mitchell on Sept. 3, 1938, in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are four sons, William of Peoria, Michael of Milwaukee, Dan of Green Bay, Wis., and Peter of Palmetto, Fla.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irma Stein of Peoria Heights.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
A teacher, she taught at Longfellow Elementary School in Peoria from 1938 to 1940. She was a former member of the Von Steuben Elementary School Mothers Club.
She was a 45-year member of Arcadia Presbyterian Church.
Cremation will be accorded and burial of ashes will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria at a later date.
