Mrs. Ruth Anne Shipley, wife of Columbus A. Shipley, died Thursday,
April 27, 1944, at her home in Gist. She was a daughter of the late Amon
and Mary Shipley and was aged 85 years. Surviving: besides her husband
are the following children: Mrs. Pearl Davis, Bird Hill: Amon C. Shipley, of
Iowa; William Elbert, Gist; and Donald C., Dorsey Cross Roads; also nine
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at the late residence Sunday at 11 A. M. The
Rev. James A. Richards officiated. Burial was in Bethesda Methodist
church cemetery. The pallbearers were: Arthur Buckingham, Leslie
Gorsuch, Roy Pool, John Easton. Paul Easton and Ray Brown.
