Sallie Ruth Cobb was born on Jan. 19, 1894 in Rock Creek, Guilford Co., North Carolina. She was the daughter of William Rankin "Willie" Cobb (1868-1917) and Lula Ella Wright (1869-1955), the second of their six known children. Sallie's parents are buried in Friedens Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gibsonville, Guilford Co., NC.

Sallie's father, William, was born in Guilford Co., NC. He was the son of Boston Henry Cobb (1845-1919) and Cynthia Ann Elizabeth "Sudie" Carmon (1851-1919). Both of William's parents were born in Guilford Co., NC and are also buried in Friedens Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Sallie's mother, Ella, was born in Guilford Co., NC. She was the daughter of William Newton Wright (1830-1909) and Helen Summers (1834-1907). William was born in Rockingham Co., NC, Helen in Guilford Co., NC. They too, are also buried in Friedens Lutheran Church Cemetery.

On Mar. 25, 1920, Sallie married Burwell Clarence "Burell/BC" Boyles, Sr. (1894-1989). They were married in the Sharon Lutheran Church in Gibsonville, Guilford Co., NC.

Born in New London, Stanly Co., NC, Burell, a WWI navy veteran, was the son of Dr. Augustus Clingman "A.C." Boyles (1867-1936) and Anna Eliza "Annie" Coggin (1864-1914). Burell's father, "A.C." was a medical doctor. Burell's paternal grandfather, Rev. Marcus Wrightman "M.W." Boyles (1842-1892) was a Methodist circuit preacher, as was Burrell's grandfather, Rev. Josiah Adolphus Boyles (1816-1984) and great-grandfather, Rev. John Boyles II (1768-1843).

Burrell and Sallie were married for 65 years and had three known children. They were Ruth Cobb Boyles (1921-2004), Burwell Clarence "Burell/Pete" Boyles, Jr. (1922-2003) and Dr. Paul Weldon Boyles (1925-2018 ).

Sallie died on May 4, 1985 in Gibsonville, Guilford Co., NC at the age of 91. She is buried in Alamance Memorial Park in Alamance Co., NC.

Her husband, Burell, died on Mar. 24, 1989 in an Alamance County nursing home at the age of 94. He too, is buried in Alamance Memorial Park, next to his wife, Sallie.
