Anna Adda
Anna Kulow Adda of Ringoes died on Monday, June 11, 2012 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township. She was 88.
She was born in Yonkers, N.Y., Dec. 29, 1923, daughter of Larion J. and Ksenia Stepanku Kulow, formerly of 227 East 87th Street, New York City, N.Y.
She graduated from Julia Richmond High School in 1940, attended the Brooklyn College evening session until 1943 when she transferred to the New Jersey College for Women (now Douglass). She graduated in 1946 with a B.S. in botany and genetics.
Anna worked for the W. A. Burpee Seed Company when they developed the Burpee Hybrid Cucumber.
In 1948, Anna and her husband, Joseph F. Adda Jr., moved to Ringoes. They had met at Rutgers where Joe was an "Aggie" near the "Puddle."
Anna also worked at the Hunterdon Medical Center in medical records, data processing and medical auditing. She taught Sunday school for many years at the Larison's Corner Presbyterian Church, Larison's Corner and was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader in Flemington.
She loved gardening, bird watching and reading on all topics and inspired a love of these things in her children and grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by daughter, Christine.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Joseph; a brother, Roman Walter Kulow of Cheshire, Conn.; a son, Joseph of Waterford, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and John Lawrence of Kemblesville, Pa.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth and grandson, John, both of Kemblesville, Pa.; and two great-granddaughters, Sara and Julia.
Funeral services will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. in Larison's Corner Presbyterian Church, Larison's Corner.
