Lee Davis, 83

Called By Death James Lee Davis, 83, died Monday, March 27, 1972 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines following a lengthy illness. Born May 13, 1888, at Dean, Iowa, he was the son of Daniel and Sarah Horn Davis. A veteran of World War I, he was married to Pearl Benz. She preceded him in death. On Sept. 27, 1919, he married Kate Archer, who survives. Also surviving are four sons: Clifford of Iowa City, Donald of Moulton, Roy of Centerville,and Virgil of Wellman; four daughters, Velma Forman of Iowa City, Ollie Buck of Yakima, Wash., and Dorothy Kerby and Virgie Campbell, both of Moulton; also a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Two daughters, two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death. Services were held Wednesday at the Duley Funeral Home in Moulton, conducted by Jerry Weller. Burial with military rites was in Salem cemetery near Exline.
