In the 1880 census John George Koberstine was a boot and shoemaker in Harmon, Lee County, Illinois and his wife Anna (Young) Koberstine was "housekeeping". No children are shown.

The children of John and Anna Koberstine were as follows:

1. Henry Bernard "Bernie" Koberstine was born 21 July 1882, in Harmon, Lee County, Illinois. As an adult Bernnie was not a Catholic. Bernie died in 1964.

2. Karl Ernest Koberstine was born 11 September 1883, in Sterling, Whiteside County, Illinois. As an adult Karl was not a Catholic. Karl Kober died 2 August 1947.

3. Clara May Koberstine was born 28 April 1886, in Sterling, Whiteside County, Illinois. She died 19 May 1947.

4. John G. Koberstine Jr. was born 17 May 1888, in Sterling, Whiteside County, Illinois. He died 13 October 1969.

5. Frank L. Koberstine born 16 September 1890 in Sterling, Whiteside County, Illinois. He died 3 May 1892 in Sterling, Whiteside County, Illinois.

His house was at 5412 Washington Blvd. In 1929 Chicago City Directory son John "Jack" had "Jack's Meats", his house was at 5668 West Washington Blvd.

On May 15, 1925, John George Koberstine died in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois at age 71 years, 9 months, and 22 days. On May 18, 1925 he was buried in Lot S1/2 655, Section 49, of the Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park, Cook County, Illinois.
