Rose A. Buskirk, 93, of Brodheadsville, formerly of Saylorsburg and Wind Gap, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born: May 20, 1919 in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Strihovsky Kozic. Personal: Her husband Franklin B. Buskirk died in 1988. Earlier in her life Rose worked for Reeds Diner in Wind Gap as a cook. Later, she was employed as head chef at Linden Court in Sciota until her retirement. She enjoyed bingo, her lottery tickets , going to the casinos and playing poker. Rose loved nothing more than having all of her family together. She enjoyed planning and hosting parties, and family reunions. Rose's warm and loving personality made family and friends alike always feel welcome. Memberships: She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Brodheadsville. Survivors: Rose is survived by two sons, David, and his wife Virginia, and Michael, and his life partner Rose Danner; four daughters, Patricia Sutter, Alice Buskirk, and her life partner John MacQuirk, Susan Dominick, and her life partner Bob Padalino, and Mary Fugitt, and her husband Garl; one brother, John Kozic; one sister, Veronica Shafer; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one great-grandson, Brenton Krouse; two brothers, Mickey, and Joe; and six sisters, Helen, Mary, Bertha, Lillian, Marge and Catherine. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1402 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Family and friends are invited to call Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 202 West St., Wind Gap. There will be no viewing hours on Saturday. Burial will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. Memorials: Contributions in memory of Rose may be offered to Brenton's Hope, 353 Robin Dr, Nazareth, PA 18064.
