Preston Tabb Ormsby, 67, of Rancho Mirage, Calif. and San Miguel De Allende, Jalisco, Mexico passed away on February 24, 2011 in Rancho Mirage of pancreatic cancer. He was born April 5, 1943 to Henry Dumesnil Ormsby and Martha (Tabb) Ormsby in Louisville, Ky. Preston graduated from the Asheville School. He attended College of Wooster, Georgetown University and graduated from the University of Louisville. He received a Master's Degree from the Thunderbird School of International Business. He worked at Manufacturers Hanover Bank in New York City; was a partner in Humphrey-Ormsby Interior Design in Louisville and a realtor for Coldwell Bankers in Naples, Fla. An accomplished and prolific painter, he studied at the Instituto Bellas Artes in San Miguel. He served as a board member of the Palm Springs Art Museum Artists' Council. In 2008 he won Best of Show at the museum's annual competition. His paintings are in over 50 private collections, in both Mexico and the United States. Preston is survived by his mother, Martha Tabb Ormsby of Louisville; his sister, Martha "Marty" Tabb Ormsby of Rancho Mirage, Linville, N.C. and Louisville, Ky.; three nieces, Hope Ormsby Dishman Paga of Atlanta, Ga., Mary Preston Dishman of Durango, Colo., and Elizabeth Tabb Ormsby of Athens, Ga. He is preceded in death by his brother, Henry Dumesnil Ormsby (2007). A Graveside service will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville at 11:00AM, March 10, 2011.
