Frank D. Munoz, 92, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2011, in Palm Desert, Calif. after a long and fulfilling life. He was born in Morenci, Ariz. on October 12, 1918. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Munoz, in 1996. He is survived by his loving children, Adeline Simister (John) of Yucaipa, Calif., Irene Murray of Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Franklin Munoz (Rose) of Thermal, Calif.; brothers, Joe Munoz (Celia), Art Munoz, and Jesus Munoz; brother-in-law, Robert Salgado (Hope); five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Munoz grew up in Los Angeles and moved to the Coachella Valley in 1936 where he found employment with Jenkins Date Ranch and remained until his retirement in 1981. He was an avid gardener and was known for his Christmas home decorations. He was active with youth softball, coaching Indio Exchange Club teams to Midget League championships three consecutive years; he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Coachella Valley Unified School District in 1974-1975, and member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He and his wife loved to travel having traveled throughout the United States, Canada and Hawaii. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Indio, CA on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with a rosary to be said at the hour of 11:00 AM and a funeral mass at the hour of 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at the Coachella Valley Cemetery. FitzHenry-Wiefels Indio Directors.
