Narcissus Smith was the youngest child born to the marriage of John Rutledge Smith and Julia Elvira Ingle, who married Novembr 22, 1869, Bradford County, Tennessee. Julia Elvira Ingle Smith died December 15, 1888, Lincoln County, Tennessee.
Narcissus' siblings are:

Eula (William Thomas Birdwell),

Narcissus moved with her father to Butler County, Kansas and then to Williamson County, Texas before 1900; father and daughter are listed on the 1900 Williamson County, Texas census.

Narissus and Caleb married June 29, 1902. They were a very special couple, kind and giving of themselves to their family.

MRS. SIMMONS, 79, SWEETWATER, DIES SWEETWATER -- Mrs. C. R. Simmons, lonetime resident, died at 6:15 a,m. Sunday, after a five -week illness.

Mrs. Simmons was the widow of Caleb R. Simmons, West Texas businessman and trustee for many years of Hardin-Simmons University. She was the mother of Jack Simmons of Abilene, Riley Simmons of Dallas and Mrs. C. G. Sewell of Sweetwater.

Funeral for Mrs. Simmons will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Trinity Baptist Church of Sweetwater, of which she was a member, with Cate-Spencer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, Abilene, beside the grave of her husband, who died May 1, 1958.

Officiating will be the Rev. Malcolm Brown, Trinity pastor; the Rev Avery Sullivan of Ranger, former pastor and the Rev. Howard Ramsey of Lipan, a grand-son-in-law of Mrs. Simmons.

Mrs. Simmons died in Simmons Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater where she entered for examination about five weeks ago. She suffered a stroke a short time after going to the hospital and in recent days had suffered a series of heart attacks.

A native of Lincoln County, Tennessee, Mrs. simmons was born September 12, 1883. She was the former Narcissus Smith. Her family moved to Texas when she was a child and she was reared in the Round Rock area. She was married to Mr. Simmons June 29, 1902. The couple moved to Coleman in 1908 where they lived until establishing their home in Sweetwater in 1922.

Mrs. Simmons was in the laundry business with firms here and in other towns.

Surviving Mrs. Simmons are her daughter and two sons; one sister, Mrs. Eula Birdwell of Seattle, Washington; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One daughter Mrs. Mae Herndon died in 1941.

The family home is at 611 James Street.

Pallbearers will be Ed Ponder, Garland Vison, Aubrey Balliew, Glen Russell, W. E. Scott, Jack Harris, Tom Marsh and C. E. (Jack) Lambert all of Sweetwater.
