Daughter to Jacob Halderman, Jr and Mary Earhart who married June 7,1791in Augusta Co., Virginia. Susan's maternal grandfather was Nicholas Earhart in Augusta Co. Her paternal grandfather was Jacob Halterman Sr. who died between December 9,1790 and January 18,1791 in Augusta Co.,Virginia.

Susan Rebecca Halderman married Chesley Kenny Redifer March 5,1831. Her brother in-law David Branaman was surety on the marriage bond in 1831. He married Rebecca's sister Mary Halderman December 16,1816. Rebecca's sister Catherine, married Solomon Bushong May 14,1829 and her brother Jacob A. Halderman married Jane Patterson on June 28,1832,all in Augusta Co.,Virginia

Susan Rebecca and Chesley Kenny Redifer had eight children, all born in Virginia. There have been rumors of 12 children but no more children have been found or verified. Besides being mother to all her children she was mother to two of her grandchildren, William Porterfield Redifer and George Halderman Redifer for at least two years after their parents died in 1872, Susan herself passed away in 1874 and William went to live with his maternal grandmother Martha Hale Hunt Smith in Schuyler County, Missouri. William remained there until her death in 1886.
Susan Rebecca's life was not easy, her husband Chesley and daughter Martha's death in 1854. ..Son's Wesley and Jacob going off to war and Jacob being wounded and missing in action, then Wesley and his wife dying in 1872, she had lost loved ones and also had to endure the hardships of raising the children alone. Her youngest son Robert Porterfield Redifer would step up and take responsibility when he was old enough. Susan's family were all back in Virginia and no other known relatives were close by.

Sometime after 1854 and before 1860 Susan moved her children that were still living at home to Green Township, Dallas County, Missouri. They settled into a home next door to oldest son William Wesley and his wife Mary E.Redifer. Susan's children that remained at home were Chesley Jr. age 21., Mary Susan, age 20., Jacob, age 17., and the twins., Rebecca and Robert ages 13. Daughter Julia Ann had married the year before and it's assumed that Martha died along with her father Chesley in 1854. Chesley Jr. went missing from all records after 1860.
