Charles T. Root was the son of Civil War veteran Anderson Root (b. 14 August 1842 in Kinsman, Trumbull County, Ohio) and Margaret Louise Snodgrass Root (b. 25 May 1842 in Jamestown, Mercer County, PA). He was the brother of Ralph Roy Root, Robert Snodgrass Root and Jennie Root Crabb. Anderson, Margaret, Charles T., Jennie and Ralph Roy came to Arizona in 1895 when it was a territory. He married Mary A. Barr (b. 14 April 1871 in IND, d. of TB 4 November 1918 in Phoenix). He was the father of Neva Root and Jeannette Root Fancher.
He died after being struck by a car.
