Before he was two his family moved to Leadville, Colorado and then to Denver, Colorado where he grew up and went to school. After school he moved to Washington, District of Columbia where he was an architect.
He married Emilie Woodman Conger in 1907, they had a son Jasper Ward Brown
in 1914 who only lived eight days. About 1923 Ward and Emilie got divorced.
In 1931 he moved to Virginia and married Norma Louise Gemmell, Pyles.
Ward was a World War I Veteran and a Mayflower Descendant.
