Mrs. Mary A. Nesbitt, wife of the late J.A. Nesbitt, died at her home in Madison Township, this county, Sunday evening at 11 o'clock, from kidney trouble, aged almost 76 years. Although she had not been in good health for some time, she was not confined to her bed and her death was a shock to the community.
Mrs. Nesbitt was the oldest child of Andrew and Hannah (Dougherty) Adair, and was born in Madison Township, where her whole life, with the exception of two years was spent. The deceased wa a christian woman; in youth she joined the Center Presbyterian Church and remained a member until death claimed her. She was a very industrious woman; a great reader, and possessed a remarkable memory. She was a good, kind neighbor, was very solicitous for the welfare of her family, thoughtful of the sick and was highly esteemed by all who knew her.
Mary Adair was married to John A. Nesbitt, June 21, 1860, and to this union the following children survived; Mrs. Annie Gordon, of Cromwell, Iowa; Andrew, of Pint Grove; Robert, of Newville; Janes, John and Mrs. Ella Phenicle, of Cisna Run, Perry County. One son William preceded her in death in 1899. She is also survived by three sisters and four half brothers; Mrs. Thomas Kennedy, of Landisburg; Mrs. Martha Smiley, of Chicago; Mrs. H.M. Barlow, of Oklahoma; George and Robert, of Pine Grove, and William and Andrew of Center.
Funeral services were held at her church with burial at the church cemetery. Rev. L.C. Smiley, of Lemoyne, Pa. officiated the service.
